April 3, 1998

As Universal Exports turns two years old I'd like to take a few minutes to not only thank you, the visitor, but to tell you a little about why I started the site and what the future holds. When I started the site in 1996, I only wanted to learn a little about HTML and put something different on my resume. Once I began I never looked back. After looking around at the various Bond sites (there were much fewer back then) I found that most of them had all the same info, just laid out differently. At that point I made it my goal to make Universal Exports something different In addition to the normal pages like the women, the movies, the cars, etc, I have come up with many sections that can only be found here. Amongst others, Universal Exports features baby photos of the actors, James Bond firsts, behind the scenes, and more.

In addition to the sections, I have also made a vow to make Universal Exports a James Bond site for everyone. If there is something that you want that you don't see, e-mail me. I want to hear your opinions and take your requests. I have a section in the movies page for fan reviews as well as a similar section in the literature page. I am also always looking for new ideas for pages. If you have any thoughts or material that you would like posted, please let me know.

As for the format of Universal Exports, I have spent countless hours trying to find the perfect layout and design. It has become an issue of how can I make all of the information I have easily accessible from all pages. Although I'm not crazy about frames, it seems to be the only logical solution. Recently I have changed the bottom frame to include a search engine and a help page on the pull down menu. I hope these additions will eliminate some of the confusion surrounding the site.

What does the future hold in store? As long as the interest is there, I will continue to add to Universal Exports. I recently leased fifty more megs of disk space on my server so I will probably be adding a bunch of files to the sounds section. Also, I am in the process of rereading all the novels and will be putting up reviews in the literature section periodically. I am trying to have the Bond 19 page contain all the up-to-the-minute info so if you hear anything, please let me know.

A little background on how I make the site. I use a plain old word processor for all the code. Most graphics are either scanned by myself or taken from various CD's such as the Interactive Dossier. The site is optimized for 800 x 600 resolution and thousands of colors or greater. Anything less than that and you may lose image quality and those ugly scroll bars may appear where they shouldn't.

Once again, thank you for visiting and if you have any questions, comments, additions, or just want to chat about Bond, e-mail me at greg007@UniversalExports.net. Enjoy the site and remember, the highest form of flattery is a referral.
