Welcome to the Quantum of Solace mock poster contest. The assignment was to create a mock poster for the next James Bond movie at a time when little more than the actors and specific type of Aston Martin were known. During the
month-long voting process 112 official votes were cast and the race came down to the wire. In the end, Brandon Woodard's entry edged out the competition, receiving 18% of the votes. Geoff Gaenslen's entry was a close second with 17%.
On behalf of Universal Exports, I would like to thank all of our entrants for their time and efforts on what was a selection of amazing pieces. Many of these are as good, if not better, as the official teaser poster. But enough ramblings from me; let's hear from Brandon, our winner!
"I wanted to create a piece that conveyed Bond's emotions at the end of Casino Royale. Of course his thoughts centered around Vesper and her betrayal, so naturally she was an obvious choice to put on the poster. I chose her picture for two reasons- first, it's a wonderful picture of Eva Green and second, there wasn't a nice array of Quantum of Solace images available when I made the piece. As for the fire, I just thought it looked kinda cool and I believe it tied in well with Bond's love/hate feelings towards Vesper. This was my second attempt at a sort of grungy style and I was very pleased with the way it turned out. I've got to of course thank everyone who voted for me, Greg Goodman of UnivEx for putting on such a great competition (with some very nice entries I might add), and my girl Elanna, who has never stopped believing in me." -Brandon Woodard
