About The Site

Welcome to Universal Exports
To new and returning visitors alike I wish you a hearty welcome. As one of the Web’s oldest and largest James Bond sites, Universal Exports has been providing quality Bond information since 1996. Founded on April 3, 1996, Universal Exports was originally a product of my desire to learn HTML and add a line or two to my resume. Needless to say it has become something much larger than that.
About Universal Exports Version 6
For the first time in nearly a decade, Universal Exports has not only had a redesign, but a reimagination (I’m not sure that’s a word, but I like it). After years of being stuck in a 800x600 world, the site has expanded to take advantage of today’s higher monitor resolutions. Also, unlike previous versions where the site had a banner and content and the two never meshed, the site finally feels like one fluid entity.
This fluidity is helped by the consistent UnivEx mall on the right hand side as well as the new drop down menus. With hundreds of pages in the site, navigation has always been an issue…and site maps, while useful, are not the solution. Now, every single page in the site can be accessed from every other page. Best of all, I can dynamically update the menus with the touch of a button. Very cool! Lastly, and I’m sure you’ve noticed them by now, Universal Exports 6.0 features ads and product placements. Much like the Bond series itself, I have had to start putting these in to keep the site running and cover my ever-growing costs. I hope that I have made them inconspicuous enough while putting them in a prominently enough place to get them clicked on. So if you see something you like, please take a moment and click on it.
When I began to create Universal Exports I spent a lot of time looking around at the various Bond sites (there were much fewer back then). It seemed that most of them had the same information, just laid out differently. At that point I made it my goal to have Universal Exports be something different. In addition to the common pages such as movie reviews and profiles of the women, Bonds, allies, villains, etc, I wanted to create sections that could only be found here. Amongst others, Universal Exports is proud to feature baby photos of the actors, James Bond firsts, a host of obscure tidbits, behind the scenes photos, a humor section including most every Simpsons/Bond reference ever, the most comprehensive movies section online and more.
It's Everyone's Site!
In addition to the sections I have created and written, I have vowed to make Universal Exports a James Bond site for everyone. I have worked hard to include everything you could ever want in the site, but I don't doubt that I have missed some things. If you have suggestions for new pages and sections, send them to me. Want to add your review of a movie or a book? Drop me an e-mail. Notice an error or think I should change something? Let me know. I will do my best to answer every serious e-mail that comes into my inbox.
How Do I Make The Site
All of the coding used in Universal Exports is written using Notepad. Most graphics are scanned from various books or created in Photoshop from other images. The site is optimized for 1024x 768 resolution and thousands of colors or greater. Anything less than that and you may lose image quality and those ugly scroll bars may appear where they shouldn't.
In addition to everyone who has ever written in with content for the site without my asking, I would like to thank my amazing creative team who work tirelessly providing articles, interviews and graphics for the site as well as moderating and keeping the MI6 Debriefing Room running. So, thanks to Adam, Brandon, Jordan, Derek, Allen, Erik and Alex…I couldn’t do it without you guys!
Summing It All Up!
Once again, thank you for visiting and if you have any questions, comments, additions, or just want to chat about Bond, please e-mail me. Enjoy the site and remember, the highest form of flattery is a referral.
