If it’s not in the movie but it still uses Daniel Craig and the title Quantum of Solace to sell a product, is it product placement? Either way, Sony has just released a new minute long TV commercial for their HD TVs featuring Daniel Craig dodging a series of HD explosions.
The ad, which was directed by Baillie Walsh, premired on October 15 before a England football match on Setanta in the UK.
Personally, I think it’s quite boring and in no way makes me excited for Quantum of Solace OR going out and buying an HDTV. But that’s just me.

One event movie calls for another, as is evidenced by the recent announcement that the trailer for JJ Abrams’ new Star Trek reboot will premire during the coming attractions for Quantum of Solace.
According to Reelz Channel:
So is the Bond crowd and Trekkie fan base one and the same? While there is certainly crossover, the move most certainly signals Paramount and Abrams’ plan to seed out the reboot to more than the usual Trek fan base, whose attendance is already guaranteed.
So come November 14th, don’t be surprised to see a few Spock ears amongst the martini and tuxedo crowd.

Gemma Arterton
In a revalation worth of The Princess Bride, Quantum of Solace star Gemma Arterton has recently revealed that she was born with six fingers on each hand and a “crumpled ear.”
Arterton, 22, still has small lumps on the side of her hands following the childhood procedures to have the extra digits removed. The fingers were “tied”, causing them to fall off naturally.
“It’s my little oddity that I’m really proud of,” she told Esquire magazine. “It makes me different.”
The actress, who plays Agent Fields in Quantum of Solace, James Bond’s 22nd adventure, revealed earlier this year that she was also born with a “crumpled ear” that had to be corrected with surgery.
“I was born with lots of deformities,” the Rada graduate said at the time.

Though he is far from needing plastic surgery to repair aging features, Daniel Craig has said that he might be open to the idea due to the multitude of injuries he sustained filming Quantum of Solace.
Craig has been reported as saying, “It’s what happens when you do something like this. I got tagged in a fight sequence and needed eight stitches. Plastic surgery? Give it five years.”

Mark Ronson has given the new Bond theme tune the big thumbs up.
The Super-producer — along with Amy Winehouse — was originally in the running to record the coveted tune, but was forced to pull out at the last minute.
But Mark, 33, insists he is impressed with Another Way To Die — the effort of Jack White and Alicia Keys.
He says, “I’ve listened to it and it’s great. I love everything Jack White does and I can’t wait to see the new Bond film.”
Another Way To Die will be released as a limited edition of 6000 7″ Vinyl in the US on September 30, 2008 and on October 6, 2008 in the UK.
Quantum of Solace, the film in which the track appears, is released in the UK in October, and worldwide through November.
